It's Friday so I'm just going to give you a couple of prayers that you guys can say to get closer to God and Jesus.
All-powerful and ever-living God, direct your love that is within us, that our efforts in the name of your Son may bring mankind to unity and peace. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
That's a sample of the opening prayer we say every week at the beginning of mass.
There you are!

I think it is annoying how people give all give credit to God for everything good they do and not bad. You should give the credit to yourself.
I think it is really unfair to blame anyone for anything you do. I know that I have control of what I do, good and bad. I don't like the idea of blaming anyone for anything I do. If you do something bad learn how you can do better. If you do something good, pat yourself on the back.
Yeah, I agree with you two. I just found this sight, and I'm glad to see that there are people with a lot of different opinions here. I think that we should not have to ask for forgiveness for something we did, because if God is truly all-forgiving, then he would forgive you without you having to ask.
Zoe could you give the blog names something other than the day of the week? It is hard to find older poast when they all have the same names pretty much. Thanks!!
Roni, I think people (in general, including me) give credit to God for everything we do well because he helps us, but it's not like he does it all. Well, it's really hard to explain. But I think you get it! And yes, I'll change the name of the blog days according to what they're about now!
Shira, I agree with you, we shouldn't blame anyone for what we do. We should take full responsibility for our actions. And yes, we have control of everything we do. Okay, I don't want to repeat all that your saying because I agree with your whole comment so...
Olivia, first of all, thanks for visiting the site! I noticed you noticed that there are a ton of different people on here and you're right. If you want to come back, every Monday we have a debatable question! :) I disagree with you on the forgiveness thing. God grants us forgiveness, but we need to ask for it so that he knows we acknoledge our sins. If we didn't acknoledge our sins, he wouldn't know if we knew about it! If he is forgiving, then he'll forgive us, but we should acknoledge our sins. I can't say that enough! We really have to to get forgiveness!

I don't believe that God controls every thing we do. I sort of believe that he created the world, and now we humans do what we CHOOSE to do, whether he likes it or not. And I believe we get punished in the end for the things that we do that are bad.
Anyway, a lot of people are saying how hell is not fair and God is about forgiveness. It's absolutly true that God is about forgiveness, but I believe that he is about fairness as well. I absolutely believe that some people DESERVE to rot in hell. Like, take Hitler for example. Based on all the torturing he did to MY people (the Jews) and pretty much EVERY OTHER RACE IN THE WORLD, he deserves to suffer for the rest of eternity! He doesn't deserve to go to heaven at all! It wouldn't be fair for him to go! And he isn't the only person either. There are many people around the world who truly don't have consciences and don't care who they hurt. I believe that those are the people who deserve to go to hell. It's sorta like what Zoe said. People make mistakes. I believe that there are some people who murder, but feel terrible afterwards and regret it for the rest of their lives. Those people ought to be forgiven. But for murderers who enjoy what they did and would do it again--they deserve hell. Again, like what zoe said. Its about acknowledging what you did is wrong. Only then should you truly be forgiven.
Zoe you are kind of conterdicting yourself. You are saying we should give all credit to everything we do to God as long as take responsibility for our actions. Taking responsibility and taking credit are the same things. So i agree with what you said! We should take responsibility for our actions and not have God take them. We can take responsibility for the good things we do to. Just like taking credit. See what I'm saying?
And strudel, I agree that Hitler is the most horrible nasty piece of scum that has ever walked the earth, but sending him to hell forever would just be getting even with him. Even you said on the poasts on death order that Hitler wouln't sit around in his prison cell thinking about his actions. Why should it be any different in Hell? I'm not saying he should go to Heaven. He shouldn't get rewarded for doing bad. So were should he go? He should recarnate and keep recarnating UNTILL he does good and takes responsibilty for his actions.
Now what you might be thinking is what if he comes back and kills more Jewish people? Well first of all, he probley won't remember his pat ,and second of all the people that he might kill will recarnate also. They will get a second chance.
God should't send people hell out out of fear that they might come back and do more bad. God is not a coward.
And remember, forgiving does'nt equal sending people to hell FOREVER.
I ment, " ... he wouldn't remeber his past life..." Sorry :)
Well Roni first i'd like to say that your reincarnation theory does make sense. It would be fair to make hitler's soul live again and again until he is finally a... well what I would call a human being.
Anyway, you said how I believe that criminals shouldn't just sit in jail and think about what they've done. Well, I do believe that. But I think hell is a BIT different than jail. Jail isn't torture. It isn't comfortable, but it isn't torture. Hell on the other hand.... Well it may sound sorta silly but I've always pictured hell as people shoveling lumps and lumps of coal...and thats all they do.... AND they have a sore back the whole time so they're in constant pain! (okay maybe I have a little bit too much free time...)
Anyway, you also said that sending hitler to hell would just be getting even with him. Well, personally, I see nothing wrong with getting even with people. Like i said when we discussed the death penalty, I believe in an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth.
And I also don't think that God sends people to hell out of fear. I think he sends people to hell because that is what they deserve. Honestly, i truly believe that there are people who DESERVE hell. But your reincarnation idea works too. Both would....teach them a lesson. Anyway, I think we can agree that if someone lives a terrible life, some form of punishment must be given. Whether it be constant reincarnation until you live a good life, OR being sent to hell for eternity. :)
Strudle:
In America, the jails are nice and cozy but that is America. Have you ever heard of Guantanamo Bay? They tourture there prisoners. Cruel and inhuman torture. Also, I don't belive in getting even. If someone killed your goldfish, then you killed there goldfish to get even, then they kill your sisters goldfish, and so on. Fighting fire with fire only makes a bigger fire. It is the same thing with punishment. It is the same thing with punsihment. If someone like Hitler got punished for killing your goldfish, he wouldn't realize what he did was wrong, he would want to get more even. And it would keep on going and going untill the world was a pile of ash! If a good person kills your goldfish, they will be able torealize on there own what they did was wrong. A good enough person doesn't need a punishment for there crime to realize what they did was wrong. If they don't realize, then they should recarnate.
When I say I don't belive in crime and punishment, I'm talking about sending people to hell for all unternity for something they did wrong in there lifetime. Just thought I'd clarify that.
This whole reincarnation thing is getting weird! Especially since I don't believe in it! I think that people that don't recognize their sins shouldn't be automatically forgiven, they should have to realize it first. I don't agree with the an eye for an eye theory! You know how some people say "revenge is sweet"! Well I think that revenge is horrible. That's just sinning because someone sinned against you! Like seriously, that doesn't make sense. I think that some people should definatly go to Hell. But not if they are forgiven. The whole thing about forgiveness is kinda weird. Being a catholic, we go to confession to tell a priest our sins. Once we're done that, he gives us something to do so that we are really forgiven by God. Like if someone kills someone, they might be told to go tell the police, or something like that!
-Zoe
Zoe no one ever said they should be atimaticly forgiven. We said that people, in a way, should get a second chance at confessing there sins. In a second life. Now I know that I said people probley can't remember a past life, but I bet you still have a feeling you did something bad. Some people take a while to realize what they did was wrong. But everyone should get a second chance. Everyone, no matter how long it takes. Plus wouldn't God be a sin for sending people to Hell to be tourtured forever? It really doesn't make sence! Now I'm not saying that I want you to belive me though. Belive what you want. I'm just sharing my opinion.
I don't think that God "sends" people to Hell. I think that what you have done in you life determines which place you end up. Whether the devil in Hell or God in Heaven influences your life more, that is where you end up. You choose your fate, whether by asking for forgiveness (and that is not just telling your priest you're sorry, you have to truly mean it, and God can tell), or never really feeling sorry. God and the Devil are two opposing forces. They both want you in the end of your life. Your actions show your alliance to either/or.
I think you guys have conterdicting opionins. You claim God is all about love and forgivness at the same time when he sends people to hell forever. THAT IS NOT FORGIVING!!! And you guys keep avoiding that statement every time you comment. So please explain to me how God is being forgiving by sending people to Hell. Seriously tell me.
Not giving people a second chance in life to confess there sins is UNFORGIVING!!!! IT IS NOT FAIR AND NOT RIGHT! Please also explain how God is being forgiving in that situation. Im currious, I would like to know if there is an explaination for why God does not let people have a second chance to connfess there sins and why it is forgiving to send poeple to Hell. I also don't think that people should be atimaticly forgiven. They should get a chance to forgive. Isn't everyone Gods child anyway? Shouldn't God give as many chances to forgive as possible?
Not beliving that Hitler deserves a second chance is cruel. I think he is scum, he killed my people also, but he might confess some day. What about people who never compleated an important task in life and they were good? Should God say well thats too bad? It is not just the bad people who need a second chance.
Now I want you to seriously tell me how God is being forgiveing by not letting people have a second chance to confess there sins. That is the question I want you to answer. I'm very curious on what you have to say.
Well first of all, I view God as fair, not neccesarily all forgiving. Sometimes, certain people don't DESERVE to be forgiven. At least, that's what I think. I do not think that Hitler deserves a second chance. I honestly don't. And I think that there are a lot of other people out there who ALSO don't deserve second chances. That, I think, is where you and I differ in our opinions.
If people just gave everyone second chances, I don't think trust would even exsist. Although many will say that I'm wrong, I honestly do think that there are people out there who are ALL evil.
I hope I answered your question. But tell me if I didn't. :)
Anyway, you also said how there might be GOOD people out there who aren't allowed to fulfill all their hopes and dreams in one lifetime, correct? That's a very good point. HOWEVER, the general belief is that when one reincarnates, they are not connected in any way to their past life. It's a new life. They have new goals. New wishes. A NEW LIFE. So I don't believe that if, in fact, we do reincarnate, we have the same hopes and dreams. Because it's a new life. That's just how reincarnation works.
If we did remember past lives, then wouldn't reincarnation be fact rather than theory? But since nobody can remember their past lives, we can conclude that either A) We do not reincarnate after death
OR
B) If we do reincarnate, we do not remember our past life at all.
It's not up to me what God does. But, as I have said, some people just don't deserve a second chance. God is about forgiving people, but as Strudel said, he is also about being fair. I don't think in any cases, Hitler, or anyone like Hitler, should be allowed into Heaven. Because honestly, no apology would be big enough to be forgiven. All is not well within him, because he can never have a clear concious. Nothing can erase what he did.
P.S.
I don't think any of us have said that God is all forgiving. You are the one who is saying that. As I said earlier, I believe he is fair, but not neccesarily "all forgiving"
I think that anyone can be forgiven by God, no matter what they did. Humans find it so difficult to forgive people like Hitler. However, God is not a human and I think that he is willing to forgive anyone who is truly and deeply sorry. Now, I'm not saying Hitler was truly and deeply sorry, because I don't think he was. Often, people who are that cruel feel like they are doing the right thing. They do not regret their actions. But I think that if someone like that were too feel sorry, honestly, than God would forgive them. That is what I have always been taught and believed.
Well i guess this is were our opinions differ. When I say God is all about forgivness, I don't mean you in particular, I mean that is what the Christian religion belives. And since the majority of you guys are Christaian, I assumed that is what you belive. I'm not Christan, I'm jewish. Even though I am not that religious.
I don't belive in Heaven or hell and you guys do. You also don't belive in recarnation, so that means God would have to judge you on one lifetime. If I did belive what you do belive, I would think taht Hitler would have gone to hell, but I belive he recieved a second chance. I think everyone should. But I have my opionons and belifes and you have yours so I guess this is were we differ.
You belive in one shot at life and I belive in as many as you need.
There is also the question of what is good or bad. In this world we have been taught that insulting people is bad. In another world people may have been taught that insulting is good. That world might think that if we all spoke what we thought to others, there would be no shock of the truth and you would not have to hide from it. I'm not saying I agree with that but if I grew up being taught that, I would agree. there could be thousands of examples of that, so the question is, what is good? I think there is no good or bad, just opinon. But is also belive you have to respect others opinons. For example, if a child from the world that excepts insulting were to come to our world, he should respect that we don't allow insulting and don't insult. So therefor since heven and hell are divided between good and bad, who decides what is good and bad? well god ofcourse! But what if his opinons are different than others? Is that fair to punish people that have been brainwashed? Once you think about we have all been brainwashed to only belive the rules of this world. Well except for what we call "crazy people". That is why i don't belive in heven or hell because i belive there is no good or bad. So I think everyone has to do something thet call good in life no matter how many life times it takes, then they move on to something like heven.
I would like to hear your opinons of my belife. I'm really curious.
Well your theory of the fact that there IS no good and evil actually makes a lot of sense. Once again, if we use Hitler for example, he actually believed that what he was doing was good, and the jews were the evil ones! In his mind, he wasn't doing anything wrong! So I think it's definitely true that wrong and right is in the eyes of the beholder.
I think your opinions do make sense it's just the fact that we disagree even though we might not cuz as of now i dont know if i believe in heaven and hell. Anyway, nice debate! :D
And it wasn't even Monday!
I remember that once Becca (Strudel, if you will) and I had a debate about weather an opinion can be right or wrong. I think of that debate when I read these comments. So, what do you all think? Can an opinion (not twisted with a fact, mind you) be right or wrong?
♥ Skittles!! ♥
Thanks! I'n my opinon though, I think Hitler was scum. I just want to clear that up. Also, I said people need to respect others opinons which he did not due. But in his mind, you might not have to respect others opinons. It is really confussing. Besides, in this world I have been taught to respect opinons but that might not be something that is taught in another world. At the moment though, I don't think there is a heven or hell. It is all based on opinon and sending people to hell for there opinon is wrong. Good debate to you also! Your really good! I just have one quetsion, were you mocking me when you said the stuff about Hitler? I coudn't tell.
To Stittles; as I said before, I don't think there is a right or wrong. I think there are rules to each world and that is all. Every world has there own laws and things that are taught. I think we should respect everyones opinon which Hitler did not do. But again, that is just my opinon. Since Hell and Heven is divided between rights and wrongs, and I don't belive in rights and wrongs, that is why I don't belive in it. So in conclusion, I dont think your opinon is right or wrong. I think it is just an opinon.
That's cool. That's what I thought too. Saying Hitler was a great man is an opinion, not a fact. It's not MY opinion but no one can say that's factually wrong. It can be YOUR opinion that THAT opinion is wrong, but then it just gets confusing :)
I was just wondering, Roni, whether you respect Hitler's opinion? I'm not trying to attack your belief or anything, I'm just curious because you said that everyone should respect everyone's opinions. Personally, I cannot respect Hitler's opinions. I think that people can have opinions but they still can be morally wrong. No matter what world we live in I cannot see killing people as a good thing, and deserving of heaven. Interesting idea however...
I respect his opinons, but not how he put them into action. Like I said, you shouldn't take out your opinons on others. If he thought that Jews were bad, then fine. He did not have the right to kill them because he did not agree with them. But again, that is an opinon. Also, I don't belive in heven or hell. I belive in reincarnation.
Roni- No i was not mocking you at all! I would never do that, cuz that would be rude! I do think that the theory that there is no right and wrong is ....haha right. :-p
And Alexa, I think I agree with you on the opinion matter. Like I said with steph, I do think that opinions can be wrong. If your opinion is that whites are better than blacks, or jews are ruining the world, or that they are all bad, is WRONG. That may be your opinion, but i do think that opinions can be wrong.
Strudel, you are a cool person. I never would have been able to admit that you thought my opinon is right. I do think that there is no wrong opinons though. I may dissagree with an opinon, but there are no wrong opinons. Even if some opinons do seem mean.
AWWW! THANK YOU SO MUCH. that was very nice of you!!! :D
Some people do believe that blacks and whites are not equal. That's their opinion. My opinion is that they are. Who is right? No one. Who is wrong? No one. There is a difference between opinions and facts, that's why they have different names. A fact is proven, an opinion is what you think on a matter that cannot be proven.
Blacks and whites are CREATED equal. They have the same rights, but telling which one is "better" is impossible. That's why it's an opinion.
It's also someone's opinion that Jews are running the world. It cannot be a fact that the world is run by Jews. It cannot be a fact that chocolate tastes better than lollipops. Someone can say that, and I can agree with them, but that doesn't mean that it has been proven that chocolate is better than lollipops; you cannot prove something like that because we all have different tastes, we all like different things and we all dislike different things. We have different beliefs, and therefore an opinion cannot be right or wrong, because it has not been established/proven.
Wow that was really interesting and it wasn't evan monday! Good job all of you.
Okay, Skittles. So, if opinions cannot be morally wrong, than how can you say that a murderer should go to Hell? It was there opinion that a person should be murdered. And if opinions can't be wrong then why should they go to Hell? I am not saying that people cannot have opinions. I'm saying that their actions based on their opinions can be wrong and that is why unrepentful murderers go to Hell.
That is why I don't belive in heven or hell, because if you go there or not is based on an opinon. What God says you did in your life is her opinon. Good and bad is an opinon. It would not be fair to be punished for your opinon. That is why I belive in reincarnation.
I think God's opinion matters a bit more than everyone elses. That's why he's God. Some people would say that Hitler does not deserve to go to Hell for what he did, but in my opinion, I think he should go to Hell. But, I, and some people are not God. God watches over everyones actions and knows the difference between good and bad. I guess that's what makes him God. He decides, not me, not you, and even though we can have opinions, it's not our job to say who goes to Hell.
Yeah, I guess it is just a belife thing. I think god is everything, in a way. But i wont go into that.
No, Roni! Go into that idea! I'm really interested in what you're saying!
-Zoe
I agree with what Alexa said a while back. She said that one person's opinion will not be wrong in their own eyes. We can't prove that it's wrong. SOME OPINIONS CAN BE MORALLY WRONG, BUT NONE WILL EVER BE REALLY WRONG BECAUSE IT'S EXACTLY THAT: AN OPINION. IT'S WHAT SOMEONE THINKS! YOU CAN'T CHANGE THAT BECAUSE IT'S WHAT SOMEONE ELSE THINKS! THEREFORE IT CAN'T BE WRONG!
Just wanted to make a point with that capitalized stuff! sorry
-Zoe
Zoe, I think that God is not someone who makes dessions, or something all good or all bad. I don't think she or he is what they say in the christan religion or any religon. I think she is a force that is everything good and bad. The good and bad aren't seprat like in Star wars, they are united. But as you know I don't belive in good or bad. I belive good and bad is an opinon. God is whatever you need her or him to be. She or he is everything. That ever was or ever will be.
Uhhhh...I'm not sure I understand that! So could you explain it in a different way???
thanks
-Zoe
I get what roni is saying! Gos is everything good and bad. Everyhting that ever was, is or will be. God is everything! I agree.
Saying that everyone is entitled to their own opinion doesn't make racism "okay". It doesn't matter if you say "an opinion can be wrong", people are still going to think that way. You can't change your opinion because it's "not okay".
An opinion can ebe morally wrong in YOUR OPINION. But, an opinion can never be factually wrong OR RIGHT. I'm not saying racism is right, I'm not saying it's factaully wrong, I'm saying that it's someone's opinion and everybody has the freedom to believe whatever they want to believe.
I know that people have opinions. I'm not denying that. However, since you think that no one's opinions can be right or wrong, do you think that it is right for God's opinions to send people to Heaven or Hell? From what I've been gathering, you don't think that other people's opinions should matter to anyone else. I'm sorry, but I don't care whether people have or do not have opinions about my religion or race or whatever. I will be angry, however, if their opinions make way to actions and I am harrassed. Actions can be good or evil. But they are based on opinions. Do you think that God shouldn't "judge" people based on their opinions, Skittles?
Okay, when did I ever say that?
I'm not saying actions cant be wrong. Opinions can lead to actions, but an opinion can't be wrong or right. It's an opinion, not a fact.
I don't belive opinons can be wrong! I don't think it is fair for God to judge other peoples opinons and send them to Hell because of there opinons! That is why I don't belive in heven or hell!! Anyone here agree with me?
