Monday-Gays

Hey! It's Monday so I gotta post the debate topic! RONI submitted this one. We've already talked about it a while ago but here ya go!

Do you think that gays are well...right? What do you think about Gay Marriage?

Okay that's it cause I don't really know how to expand on this question so that's it!

I think gays are compleatly normal. Not letting them get married IS discrimination. If any of you use the "God created Adom and Eve, not Adam and Steve" excuse I might virtualy smack you:) We shouldn't be shunning love. If we don't let gays get married, then it is only going to cause trouble. If you don't belive gays are right, then don't be gay. If you don't belive in gay marrige, then don't marry gay. Not letting gays get married because you think it is wrong in being controlling. What will it do to you if gays are allowed to marry? Nothing.

I agree with Roni! Gays rule! and matrimoney can be ment for anyone no matter who they do it with.

fine then I will be. okay well personally, i think being gay is wrong. no offense gaylord. I just don't think that anyone was made by God to be gay. and sorry about the adam and steve thing roni! haha becca, i can tell you were talking about me when you said "I think it's very wrong to dislike someone or look down upon someone who is gay just because of the fact that they are gay." I don't look down upon people, nor do i treat them differently. I just believe that people shouldn't be gay. I'm sorry if any of this offends anyone, it's just what i think.

Well, everyone's entitled to their opinions. I personally don't think that being gay is bad or wrong. I think that homosexuality is just like any other character trait, like your race or hair color. Like Skittles said, people don't choose to be gay. They should be just as respected as anyone else.

Anonymous said...

Oh, I almost forgot. I don't believe that God is against homosexuality either. Just because he created a man and a woman in the beginning, does not mean that he has a problem with homosexuality. We don't really know what Adam and Eve looked like, but let's just say that they were caucasian. Just because they weren't African American or Chinese, doesn't mean that God hates those races. God didn't make us all the same; he made us all unique.

Skittles!_4321 said...

Ok Zo, Becca didn't say that, I did. And I was just wondering why you think this way. What influenced you? Why do you think homosexuality is so terrible?

BTW Nice use of semicolon Lessay!

Skittles!_4321 said...

P.S. I completley agree with you!

Skittles!_4321 said...

That last comment was to Alexa by the way...

Strudel!_1234 said...

Yeah i wanna start off by saying that you made a really good point alexa! I would repeat it, but if you guys dont know what it is, then just read her comment! She put it perfectly.

Anyway, i think that there is no way that homosexuality is a choice. I mean, i know some people are proud of being gay just as black people are proud, and jews are proud and any other minority is proud of being different. However, that does not mean that they don't face discrimination. Why not ask gaylord? I mean, how often do you have to listen to stupid comments about your homosexuality? I can imagine it gets really old. Really quickly.

Anyway, even if, in some far out dimension, homosexuality WAS a choice, that still doesnt make it okay to discriminate. Because even if it were a "lifestyle choice", its just the way they want to live, and who are we to infringe upon that? Would you harrass a vegetarian because of their diet habits? Its the same thing.

As for gay marriage, i think its really selfish to be against it. I mean, whats it to you if some gay couple across the country wants to marry? Personally, i dont care who wants to get married. Im not going to say you can marry and you cant. Thats not my job. Anyway, even if you do oppose it, cant you agree that we have more important things right now to deal with than marriage laws? I mean how about the crisis in darfur? The war in iraq? THE DECREASING POWER OF EARTH'S MAGNETOSPHERE? WHAT WE'RE GOING TO DO WITH ALL OF OUR NUCLEAR WASTE!?!? GLOBAL WARMING!! EXTINCT SPECIES AND THE AIDS EPIDEMIC AND THE ENERGY CRISIS AND WORLD HUNGER. So maybe i do pay too much attention in science class. These are actual real problems that require our attention NOW. Doesn't it sound the least bit silly that we are arguing as to who can and cannot pronounce their love for eachother legally and officially (by marriage) when we still havent solved some of these problems in our world? It is a bit selfish. And childish. And unnecessary.

Zoe, how on earth are gays wrong? It isn't there fault! How can you say gays are wrong when you know that a gay person goes to this site? You mind as well say black people are wrong to a black person!

Anonymous said...

ZOE!!! I did not poast that comment above!!!!! Someone used my user name!!!!!! I'm serious!!!!! Please delete it!!!

Anonymous said...

OK fake "Roni" I think you meant to use the word "might" instead of "mind" any way I is OK that Zoe is a total homophobe, if that is her mindset, then so be it. This dose clear up why my name is the only graphic that doesn't wiggle or flash and it is completely still and looks like I'm an out cast, but really it's fine. Sadly for you fake "Roni" I'm not black so I can't be told that someone else is a culturephobe but I am a vegetarian, so go on and taunt me with chickens!

Did any of you know that 10% of every community is gay? well they are and many of those people are happier and smarter (and better groomed) then the other 90% of the world. Do you honestly oppose all of us and our innovative way of life?

IF god exists isn't she supposed to accept all ways of life, and all living people and things living in it? And Zoe saying "no offense" doesn't mean that what you say is not offensive. I'll have you know that Artie and I are quite happy and you have not made but a chink in our armor with your ignorant, homophobic, and insensitive comments. Oh, but "no offense"

The truth is that Gay = Good (It also equals better fashion sense) Not all gays choose to come out of the closet but those who do do face discrimination and many "but no offense" type comments in their life time but we are OK with that. We are proud to be homosexuals. We are proud to be gay. We are proud to be the 10%. We are proud to be ourselves and not to be self-conscious, up tight, twits like some sorry saps that rome this screwed up planet.

P.S. Strudel you are totally right about the "THE DECREASING POWER OF EARTH'S MAGNETOSPHERE? WHAT WE'RE GOING TO DO WITH ALL OF OUR NUCLEAR WASTE!?!? GLOBAL WARMING!! EXTINCT SPECIES AND THE AIDS EPIDEMIC AND THE ENERGY CRISIS AND WORLD HUNGER" thing. Rock on girlfriend!!! = )

Gays are not wrong in any way. They can't help the way they are. It was the way they were born. They should not be considered wrong because of the way that GOD MADE THEM TO BE!!! We should celebrate diversity! Zoe how do you think gays are wrong? What did they ever do other than love some one? Should we hate love?

Skittles!_4321 said...

With all due respect Gaylord, I really don't think Zoe meant to insult you as much as you might think. Though I see where you're coming from and I don't agree with Zoe, she has opinions that perhaps you shouldn't take so personally. I don't think she thinks less of you or looks down on you, as she has previously stated. Nor do I think she purposely does mean things to you because you are gay (ex. making your icon non-flashy). I'm not sure though. Zoe?

I also don't think that I am a twit that roams this screwed up planet. I don't think I am a twit, nor our planet is completley screwed up. Even if it was, sitting here complaining about it, blaming other people, isn't going to fix anything! I'm sorry, I just thought that was a bit extreme.

I also thought it was strange how you made it seem like if you were gay, you're automatically a good person (Gay = Good). I also don't think that everyone is proud to be gay, because I don't think everyone is.

All in all, I think Alexa's comment explained how I also feel. And that semicolon just sealed the deal!

catholicgirl12030 said...

Gaylord! I made that icon because I couldn't find any with your name on them! so I MADE it FOR YOU! I'm sorry they didn't have your name, and I'm sorry I can't make it flashy, but it took me a long time to make that icon FOR YOU! I don't look down on you! I think that you must be an incredible person, it's just that I'm not well... used to knowing gays. I'm sorry if I offended you and I definatly didn't mean it!

Roni! In ur last comment, you said that gays don't choose to be gay, they are born that way. That is only your opinion and I don't believe that. I believe that you are born asexual (thanks for introducing the new word, steph), which means they don't have a preference.

Strudel!_1234 said...

Well I'll address the comments in order. First of all, thanks so much gaylord! I'm happy you agree with me, although i cant say im surprised. :)

Steph- I don't think gaylord was calling every person who is straight in this world a mindless twit. Although im not gaylord and therefor i dont know for sure, i think he was referring to the people who are prejudice against gays. All prejudism is mindless in my opinion. So i agree with that point completely. I guess the fact of the matter is though, minorities tend to be a lot more accepting of other minorities, meaning most of the time (BUT NOT ALWAYS) if you are part of a minority, you are probably not going to be racist towards other forms of minorities.
Also, I know zoe too and i know she didnt say what she said to purposly hurt anyone's feelings. But saying no offense doesnt automatically mean that people arent going to take offense of what you say. OTherwise, i think i would probably say a lot more than i do. I know she was just speaking her opinion, and theres nothing wrong with that, but its also important to be careful not to hurt people's feelings, even when we have no intention of doing so.
One last thing- i think the only people who are ashamed to be gay are made that way because A) they were brought up in a religious household where they are made to believe that they are evil for being gay or B) they face so much discrimination in their lives that it gets to them and they wish they were straight....

Now to adress zoe: You said that you think when children are born, they are asexual. Well NEWSFLASH, wouldnt that make ANY sexual preference unnatural? If homosexuality was unnatural, it would mean that we are all born straight. However, if we are all born to be asexual, then throughout our lives we could go down one road or the other, if you get what im saying. Anyway, there have been studies that prove some animals to be homosexual. So it must be natural. Thats all im gonna say....

And is anyone else going to discuss gay marriage?!?

Zoe I know about the icon thing, remember I emailed you about that a few months ago and you explained. I'm not holding it against you, and thanks for making it. I was using it as a joke to lighten the situation. you see one frustrating thing about text is that it is quite a challenge to use sarcasm. oh and Zoe i get the whole being "alarmed" (maybe that isn't a good word... uncomfortable might be better) by homosexuals and it is OK to express how you feel about that, but all I ask is that you try to keep an open mind.

when i said "Gay = Good" I meant that gay is a good thing as opposed to a bad thing. I wasn't saying Gays are automatically good people.

just so you guys know "ASEXUAL" means that one creature is able to produce with out a spouse/mate. an example would be a starfish or a potato. wait that could be asexual reproduction... either way your not born "asexual", you just haven't realized your "sexual potential" quite yet. Roni is right you don't choose to be gay, it just sort of, happens... Once again strudel is correct!!! not all gays are comfortable with themselves and they live in denial for the majority of their lives, and some end up committing suicide because their family disapproves, or they think it is "sinful".

I think my neighbor's dog is gay... either that or he is gender blind because he keeps humping his brother...

now to address gay marriage. what is the difference between a gay marriage, and a marriage between a man and a woman who has had ovarian cancer and had to have her tubes tied? as long as two people love each other it shouldn't matter what their orientation or what their gender. the marriages that should be prevented are the ones in hollywood that last 23 hours before they file for divorce.

what is the real reason people think that gays shouldn't have the option of matrimony? don't hold back I can take it, it is more offensive to me if you hold back, the truth is better.

Strudel!_1234 said...

Yeah gaylord. You're point about a female who isn't physically capable of giving birth is a good point. That obviously isn't the reason the government is concerned with gay marriage. Otherwise, they would be running background checks about people as to whether or not they are like sterile or barren or something. Even if the government IS concerned about the fact that gay marriage could potentially lower our population (which i personally think is QUITE a bit far fetched. It seems to me that its an excuse to hide their TRUE feelings about gay marriage.), the question is why are YOU against gay marriage?

Personally I think its one of the more selfish opinions you could have. I mean, is it that unreasonable to call it selfish for someone to be intervening in the affairs of complete strangers? Who are you to deny the rights of thousands, or even millions, of people in America the right to get married. It's just sooo stupid. I mean, get reasonable. Put it into persepective. The government is seriously trying to control who can and can't marry? I mean, doesn't anyone think that's a BIT of a private affair? People are so against the government listening to phone calls. Isn't it an invasion of privacy for the government to say you aren't allowed to get married?

Anyway, as i said before, lets concern ourselves with more important things. Does it sound ridiculous to anyone (or is it just me) to thiink that MARRIAGE is actually one of the debateable and hot topics in our election? i mean GAY RIGHTS. we are seriously DEBATING as to whether or not certain people should have their rights. It's all ridiculous to me. And as Roni once brought up before, its an excuse to brew hate. I know it sounds so ridiculous and childish and unrealistic, but why can't we just GET ALONG?! WHY IS THIS SO UNREALISTIC? LET PEOPLE MARRY. WHETHER YOU BE GAY OR BLACK OR OF A CERTAIN RELIGION OR RACE. WHO CARES?!?! If you can give me a good reason why we should actually concentrate on making it illegal for people to legalize their love, then do it. What happened to keeping our hands to ourselves? It's metaphorical of course. Just stay out of other people's business. Is that REALLY so much to ask?!?!

We are not letting gays get married but we are letting high sex crazed creeps run off to Vegas and get married. Hmmmm.......... That says a lot about our society.

Strudel!_1234 said...

Agreed.

Strudel!_1234 said...

Is anyone going to debate?!?!? I thought i remembered this being a pretty heavy debate last time....

catholicgirl12030 said...

it's because of your short comment that we stopped debating haha!

Anonymous said...

Nice excuse Zoe. We gave plenty of debateable statments.

We shouldn't shun love, not true love, at least. And Gay love is not true love, and thats final. God did make Adam and Eve, making love between a woman and a man.
