Cool video! I am comming to a time in my life where I am trying to decide if I should practice a religion. I am assuming that you all are religious, since this is a Catholic blog. Some of you might not be, but I still want to hear what you have to say. So my question is, why should I consider Christianity to be my religion? Why should I be Christian? I am asking a bunch of people from different religions. I know I sound stupid, but I need help. If you could give me your opinons, that would be great!
Hmm... it's hard to say why you should follow a certain religion. It really depends on what you believe. All sorts of things are factors. First and foremost of course is if you believe in God. Other important ideas are the afterlife, different religious views, holidays, prayers, etc.
Anyway, this site: http://www.quizrocket.com/religion-test/ has a religion quiz. You can take it to give yourself some sort of idea as to what you believe. Don't take the results too seriously, but i think it could help.
Also: I don't think you should be practicing religion out of guilt or something. It's perfectly fine if you want to become religious, but don't do it because you think you have to. That's all i have to say. :)
Thanks! Your tips are helpful! What about following a religion in general? Why is it important?
Well, choosing to follow a religion in general is still all about what you want to believe. I know that for me, it's all about believing that this can't be it. I can't believe that once I die, its all over. There is so much here on earth, so much life, that I know that some bigger existence must be somewhere. Life is too complex to not have come from something. I also believe in miracles, which I think must connect in someway back to God.
I think for me, being Catholic is important because I feel like there is always something more. If I only had this small life and then I was gone forever, I wouldn't be able to enjoy this life. I also know that a lot of good in this world comes from knowing that you have to be good for something, that there is a reason (an afterlife) to be good for.
Of course, it is all about personal beliefs. What you believe and choose to believe is what is really important, and will help you choose what religion, if any, that you want to follow.
Those are some really pretty images on the video! I've always that was a beautiful song.
I don't really understand that Catholic News thing. What is that about?
Anyone?
Steph, it's saying that Pope John Paul II will become a saint, or become beautified which is close to being a saint.
