But we have the option to not eat animals. Animals eat other animals because they have to to survive. We do not.

Anyone?

Well then, you made my point. We have the option to eat animals, or not eat animals. If you're vegetarian, that's different from thinking that we shouldn't kill animals because they are God's creatures. In the caveman years (since I do believe in evolution) we did survive on animals. Why change just because we can? It's natural to be omnivores, just like I said earlier.

It is also natural for us to live in a cave then and talk in grunts. We are no longer caveman. And if you believe in evolution, then we have evolved away from depending on animals for food. We should change it because we can! That is a great reason to. We should stop mudering creatures, who never did anything wrong to us, for our own pleasures. Think of all the things we wouldn't have if we didn't change it because we could. We would still be apart of England, we would still have slavery and a bunch of stuff.

Anybody?

Well God chose us as the chosen "people", if you will. That means that He understands what we need to survive and I think he's okay with the choice most of us make to eat meat. I personally feel bad for the animals, but even that won't stop me from eating it. Just a question for anonymous:
Are you a vegetarian or a vegan? just wondering...

I don't think that eating animals, for most Americans at least, is a necessity. But we grow up in a meat-eating world. When you grow up eating meat, it is hard to stop, even if you feel bad about eating the animals. If meat wasn't so good, and there weren't so many meals with it, and it wasn't in such an abundance, then there probably wouldn't be as many meat-eaters. I like meat, but I do feel bad for the animals. When you grow up eating something that you like, it is hard to stop.

I am a vegitarian. I don't think God will be ok with us abusing our power as the "chosen ones". And we don't need to eat meat to survive. We are not cave man. If you feel bad for the animals, then why do you eat meat? I don't get that.

Also, I noticed that you call God "He". Do you think of God as masculin?

And about what Alexa said, it is hard to stop. But anyone could if they put an effort into it. And if we all stoped eating meat, we would survive.

I just call God "He" because that's a stereotype. He's not female or male, He's doesn't need to be in a category because He's amazing.

Anonymous, just wondering, again, what religion do you belong to?

Here's the thing. If your argument is that we shouldn't eat meat because they are "God's creatures" then I think you are mistaken. After all, aren't there many animal sacrifices in the Bible? We don't do that anymore, of course, but there was a time when people believed that it was their job to kill animals for God.

You're right. People can survive without meat. People can also survive without electricity, without daily showers, and without computers. Does that mean we should just shut down all the electricity plants, stop taking showers, and stop debating on the internet? No. Of course not. If it's natural to be both an omnivore and a herbivore, then why do you insist that we should completely disregard being omnivores and make the entire world vegetarians?

Anonymous said...

I am not saying we are wrong to kill animals in the past, I am saying we are wrong to now. Giving up meat is way easier to do then give up electricity. It comes down to what is right, and what is easy.

Zoe to answer your question, I am Pagen. I worship nature, but I also follow many teachings of Jesus and Budah. Just out of curiousity, why are you asking?

I agree with anonymous, you can give up meat if you actually put some effort into it. I gave up meat in third grade even though none of my family is vegetarian and even though I had eaten meat for eleven years. I've not eaten any meat since. It is not as hard as many people make it sound to find vegetarian foods, you just need to be flexible. Strudel, we are not actually omnivores because of our composition, but by choice. Our teeth are designed to eat plants and vegetables, it is harder for our body to digest compared to the other things we eat, and we don't get excited around blood and meat like carnivores or omnivores would be. Therefore I think that it is needless murder and it should be prevented because it can be prevented. Also, the conditions in which the livestock we kill live in are horrible and inhumane conditions.

What kills me the most is that some of you feel bad for the animals and know eating meat is wrong, but you still eat it because it tastes to good. It is kind of sad that humans can't controll there desire for meat and sloter animals to fofill there crave. Do we have any controll? I am not syaing you are bad people. I just want to clear that up.

anonymous, I was just wondering.

For all you pro-choicers out there, if you say that people should have the choice to get an abortion (thus terminating the fetus), why shouldn't people have a choice to eat meat? Besides the point that one's an animal and one's a human, those are both lives that have been taken away.

Personally, I don't think you should force people to eat what you tell them to. I mean, if you want to eat veggies instead of meat, good for you. Strudel is correct, it's a personal choice and preference.

Anonymous said...

Skittles, you are so conterdicting. You say people shouldn't have the choice to kill a fetus, but you also say people should have the choice to murder animals. Yous shouldn't have the choice to kill anything. And I never said I was pro-choice! I am pro life, but lets not get into that debate now. I know that some of you think that killing animals are wrong, but you have no self controll to give it up! IT I MURDER! You make it sound so casual!

Strudel!_1234 said...

It is not murder actually, because for something to be murder, it has to be a person that you are killing. If you call it murder when I eat a hamburger, then why isn't it murder when a bear eats a fish? Because different species are doing it? That doesn't make sense. If it's murder, it's murder no matter who does it. Is it murder when you slap a mosquito?

Of course I feel bad when I see the conditions of certain meat factories, but I don't neccesarily think that killing animals is wrong.

Killing people (like in an abortion) and killing animals (like when they are killed for us to eat them) are two different things. Do you think that an animals life is more important than a humans? If a house was burning down, is it more important to save the cat's life or the human's life? Most of us would say the humans. As a human, it isn't strange or cruel of us to put a human's life before an animal's. Thats why we can be alright with eating meat, and not alright with abortions.

It is difficult to give up meat. I think that I will eventually give it up. But after eating meat my entire life and eating it on a daily basis, it is hard to give it up. Don't tell me that I don't have any control...I'm just saying that it's hard for me, personally, to stop eating meat, even though I want to give it up. To stop eating meat is to make a huge life change, and I don't know that I can do it yet. I don't need people telling me that I'm a wimp, or that I don't have any control. Please stop judging me like that. And even though I may become a vegetarian, I don't think that its right to force everyone else to be like that. And, as I said earlier, that is different than the whole abortion thing.

Anonymous said...

Ofcourse I would put a human life before a chicken. Ofcourse human lives are still important. But so are animal lives. We should just not kill. AND BEARS NEED TO EAT MEAT TO SURVIVE! WE DON'T!!!! Maybe it isn't murder, but it still is killing something. You shouldn't have the right to take the life of anything away just because you are smarter that it.

Alexa and to anyone else I offened, I am sorry.
