Monday-War in Iraq

Okay, before you answer this question, I really need you guys to think about it and make sure you are not being political at all. Okay so here's the question.

What do you think about the war in Iraq? You guys can't be political, but what do you guys think the people in Iraq feel about the whole war situation? How about the innocent people being killed? Don't answer this as a political person. I need you guys to be serious.

Well that's it!

Well as zoe knows, I am for the war in Iraq, politically. But lets put this beside the point.

Let's say that we're not there. Let's pretend that we're at home and we're not at war with anyone. What would happen? The stupid suicide bombers would reak havoc! It would be even more chaotic than it is now, if that's even possible! I'm sure that civilians are getting injured due to the war, but I think the number could potentially be higher if we WEREN'T there.

And even if the number of civilian deaths stayed the same, at least we know that we're fighting something going on in the world that is WRONG.

Granted, I think that we DEFINITELY need to go to Darfur if we're going to fight in Iraq too. The genocide going on in Darfur has gone on much too long to ignore by now. While I think that we are doing the right thing by staying in Iraq {not because of my political views, but because we are saving lives} I think we are being a bit hypocritical by ignoring the crisis in Darfur.

I think thnat the war in Iraq is tupid. We should try deplomany first. And we are not saving lives, we are killing inocent people when we only are going after terrorist. Should all the people in Iraq suffer because some people in Iraq are doing something terrible? and Zoe, it is kind of hard not to get political when talking about the war.

I agree that to argue this topic we have to get political! Here's my opinion: People have been saying for years that once we leave, Iraq will be destroyed and chaotic again. However, how can we determine when it is safe for us to leave? We cannot stay there forever because we are worried about the possibility of Iraq reutrning to chaos once we leave. We need to leave it up to the Iraqis to take control of THEIR country and rule it themselves. Otherwise we may never feel safe enough to leave and our soldiers will continue to die.

I believe that we should slowly and gradually remove soldiers starting immmediatly. There is currently no plan to do so. The Iragis are tired of being there. We are tired of being there. It is not our country and we have done engough to help them. Meanwhile people in our country are dying because of poverty and Orleans is suffering tremendously. Why doesn't Bush take care of us?

Sorry if I got too political. :)

Well for me, I guess my opinions aren't as solid as I thought. To some extent, I agree with you. America should be taking care of itself before it worries about taking care of someone else. Not to say that we need to wait until our country is perfect, because that will never happen. But I do think that we need more stability in our country if we are going to go to war.

HOWEVER-- I think it would be a waste of resources, time, energy, and death for us to pull out now. Not much has been accomplished, and if we just give up, Iraq AND the rest of the world will take notice. They will think that we give up easily and that we are weak, and unfortunately, it matters very much what the rest of the world thinks about us. (which is why i think we should smarten up our population since we have such a reputation for being stupid but that is a COMPLETELY different story)

Anyway, I do not think this is the time to pull out the troops! Obviously it has to happen some time, and it will! But not now. It simply isn't the time.

If you want to help a country, the country you are trying help has to want your help. Iraq wants us out and so do we. We can help improve a country in other ways than going in and killing them.

What do we (America) still have to accomplish? It is not our country. We have looked and discovered that there are no weapons of mass destruction. That was the reason (I believe, correct me if I'm wrong) that we went to Iraq in the first place! Now that we have helped Iraq get back up on its feet, we need to leave. It is up to them to rule their country. We cannot babysit them forever. I understand the idea of all the deaths going to waste, but yet, there are more deaths occuring every extra day we spend there. It is not weak to leave now, when we have accomplished everything we set out to accomplish.

I have two questions:
One, Zoe I want to hear your opinons on the Iraq war, if you feel ok telling me.
Two, alex do you know Zoe? And do you live in Maine? I'm not a stocker, don't worry. Plus there is not much stocking I can do with only knowing your first name and what state you live in. If you don't want to tell me that is ok.

Roni, first of all, it's Alexa, not alex and umm yeah she'll tell you the rest. Oh and I really don't know what to think about Iraq. I mean I really feel bad about invading and stuff and I agree that we should take care of ourselves first. I think that we shouldn't of gone into Iraq in the beginning so I really don't know what I want to happen. I know that I really want the soldiers to leave, cause they're destroying Iraq, but they're also helping. I think that we should gradually leave and just make sure that the USA has their back. I don't think anyone will mess with them if they know that we're behind them. I just hope that Iraq can regain order and run as 1 country, instead of being split up. I really hope that all the innocent people won't keep getting killed. I really feel for them and their families. I feel bad for the soldiers as well. Their leaving their families for months at a time and I feel really bad.
