Hey! It's Thursday and seeing that April vacation starts tomorrow, I won't be posting anything until the Monday after next because I'll be on vacation. Here's the video Becca recommended.
Any Other World by Mika
Sorry it's the Lion King video but I really liked this version cause the other versions I found were pethetic (yes i spell pethetic with an e on purpose.)! So I decided to use this one! I'll probably still be able to comment but not to post or anything.

SOB! I'm very emotional about this song. I love it so much!!!
I thought the last minute or so of the video was the best. Cuz in the beginning there were like festive scenes from the movie and they really didn't fit the song. But at the end when the baboon (who's name escapes me at the moment) lifted Simba, and all the animals bowed. And when they had the scenes of all the different animals in the beautiful wilderness....I thought it was so nice and calm and it makes me really want to watch the movie again! In fact, I just might!!
I didn't know they had this video so good choosing zoe!
(if it were up to me, every time there was a song it would be a mika song. but its not up to me and i think he only has one album.... but i'm just putting it out there)
:D
Can someone explain the lyrics to me? I'm a little confused about the part where he says "Cause its all in the hands of a bitter, bitter man." Is he talking about God? If so, why does he find God bitter? It doesn't seem like a happy song, but it definetly is realistic to the unhappiness there is in the world.
If anyone would like to take a stab at answering my questions, I would be very appreciative! I love the lyrics to songs, even more so when I can understand them. :)
You know, I'm not so sure about that. I think it definitely could be a reference to God, but I kinda thought of it as like the government and "the man" if you will. You know, how everything always seems to be controlled by someone in an upper level than you.
To be honest, i dont understand the lyrics that much, but they speak volumes to me in a foreign language. (metaphor!!:D)
I hadn't thought of it meaning the government. That makes sense too; and it is less...atheist or whatever. Thanks!
This is so boring! We have nothing to talk about...oh Zo when are you gonna post again?! I really wanted a debate topic...:(
Maybe he meant for the lyrics to be confusing so that it could be open to interpetation. I've never heard this song before but i like it a lot.
Has anyone see Wicked the musical or heard the music?
I've never seen the musical nor heard the music, but I have read the book. That probably isn't helpful, though, is it? :)
I've read the book too. Did you know that the author wrote a sequel?
And you should really listen to the music, it's really good!
I started to read the sequel (Son of a Witch, right?) but I couldn't really get into it. I may try to read it again later though. I would love to see the musical too! The book was awesome!
The musical itself was amazing and the music too. I haven't read A Son of a Witch yet, but I will. I heard they might make that into a musical too.
I did a jazz dance combo to this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Alexa, when he says that, I think it was a metaphor. He is saying that are world is in the hands of the human race and we are not doing a great job in caring for the world. Or he is talking about the president! Sorry to any Bush suporters, it was too temping.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE WICKED!!!!!!!!!!!! DEFYING GRAVITY GIVES ME CHILLS!!!!!!!!! Here are my four favorite songs in order.
Defying Gravity
Dancing Through Life
The Wizard and I
For Good
I agree with what you said anonymous, but like I said before I think it's supposed to be open to interpretation.
My favorite songs from Wicked are:
Defying Gravity
What is this Feeling?
Dancing Through Life
For Good
No Good Deed
......... I guess pretty much all of them except for the ones with the wizard singing.
Do you not like the wizards voice????
I just don't like the lyrics and yeah I do find his voice a little annoying sometimes.
