It's Friday!

Heyy It's Friday and I'm going to share what well this Sunday is going to be! This Sunday is the Second Sunday in Ordinary Time and that might sound kinda boring but I mean it's kinda a new year type thing! My Sunday Missal is a great tool for this blog cause it has like a preview type thing of the Sunday's gospel reading. Here ya go...

Lamb of God-familia words form our liturgy-but what would people think of when John called Jesus the Lamb of God?

You guys know about the passover lamb, whose blood used to be smeared over the doors of the Hebrews to protect them. The blood of this lamb delivered them from the death of their first-borns. So John may of meant that Jesus was the one trus sacrifice that delivers us from death.

Do you guys think so? I really want to know what you guys think about that---especially the people that don't believe in Jesus. What do you guys really think?

I don't really get what your asking. Also I don't not believe Jesus lived I just don't think he was the son of god.

Even though I don't agree with you I'm really glad that you're responding.

Oh and the question was 'Do you believe that Jesus is the one true sacrifice that saved us from death?'

Honestly I don't think so. In Judaism, we believe that our Messiah is yet to come. And if Jesus was the messiah, then why is the world still so messed up? I believe when the real Messiah comes {We call him Moshiach, if thats the proper spelling, which it probably isnt :]} the world will be perfect and happy and good. And the world is far from it now.

I actually have a question though--You spoke of the lamb and how it's blood protected the hebrews from the death of the first born. Well, as a Jew, we celebrate this on the holiday passover. My question is, if you believe that this happened, why don't you celebrate Passover too?

Okay, you have a ton of stuff that you want me to tell you about. If you don't think your Messiah has come, then how can you think you can possibly go to heaven??? If the Messiah is supposed save us from our sins, how can that happen? I really don't get it! BTW, I think that Jesus was the Messiah and that he saved us from our sins. God made us as close as possible to him, but he couldn't make man perfect. It's not God's fault that WE made this world messed up. He can't do anything about it if humans are being stupid. Not everybody believed that Jesus was the Messiah and that's why Jesus couldn't stop all this fighting and junk. If everyone knew that Jesus was Messiah and God's son, the world would be perfect. But that's not it! Do you get what I'm saying?

Sorry, I forgot to answer that question you asked. I think that we don't celebrate Passover is because it happened before the Christian faith had been developed. It occured with Jewish people, so it really didn't affect us. That's just my opinion, but I guess that's what you wanted so...

Why was that comment deleted? Okay now what I have to say.

I don't believe that the Messiah has come and I also don't believe in heaven.

Zoe how do you know that "God made us as close as possible to him, but he couldn't make man perfect. It's not God's fault that WE made this world messed up. He can't do anything about it if humans are being stupid." I mean did god tell you that. I think you are just jumping to conclusions because you want to believe in god and that jesus was gods son.

Also If Jesus really was the messiah I think everyone would know. I don't think he would have failed. But honestly I don't really believe in the messiah.

And you also said that if everyone accepted and believed that jesus was God's son, then the world would be perfect. Does that mean that it's my fault because of my faith that the world isn't perfect? Do you think that if everyone converted to Christianity, the world would be perfect and flawless?

In my faith, the Messiah saves the world, not just the Jews. So why would Jesus only save the Christians? And why would the world only be perfect if everyone accpeted him?

Okay... once again, lots of things to answer. Shira, I don't want to believe in God or in Jesus being the Messiah and God's son. I really don't want to believe it, I do! I really do believe that Jesus saved us from our sins and that God IS real. I also believe in heaven. The thing is that if everyone truly believed Jesus was our savior, nothing would be the same. If everyone did believe he was the Messiah, no one would've killed him, therefore he wouldn't of saved us from our sins.

Becca, it's not what you believe that made the world so bad, I'm not blaming anyone in particular. The thing is, nothing ever would of happened if no one disagreed! And no, the world wouldn't be perfect if everyone converted to Christianity because there are a ton of people that still wouldn't really believe what they say they believe.

I think that everyone should get a second chance if life. If you messed up in life really bad, should you have to go to hell forever? No you shouldn't. And if God is all about love and forgiveness, he isn't really forgiving sending people to hell.

catholicgirl12030 said...

if you sincerely believe in God in all your heart than you definatly won't go to hell. it's guarenteed! (sorry bout the spelling) I mean seriously, if God knew someone, he wouldn't send them to hell. Atheists don't know God and he doesn't really know them. If they believed in him, he would forgive them for everything. That's kind of why I feel bad for people that don't believe in God. Seriously, it's sad to know that they're going to hell unless they change their ways.

So your saying everyone should belive in God or they are going to hell? Well if God is about love and FORGIVENESS then why would he send people to hell forever? Is that what you call forgiving?

I really want to know why that comment was deleted and who wrote it. I don't like it when comments get deleted.

I love the idea of forgiviness and hell just really is not a forgiving idea.

I think that one woman or man can't save the world. I think we are all going to have to work together. If we have someone solve everything for us, how will we learn our lessons?

About the goat thing, you should know that there is also the story of Odysseus sacrificing a lamb so that he can speak to this guy in the Land of the Dead. There are lots of stories involving lambs as sacrifices, but there are also quite a few stories about lambs that don't involve sacrifice. Why should one person have to make a sacrifice so that all others would be forgiven. If God is always fair and all that, that wouldn't make sense.
