Here ya are!
At that time Samuel was not familiar witht he Lord, because the Lord had not yet revealed anything to him as yet. 1 Samuel 3:7
Maybe you just heard about a big surprise party that's coming up. Maybe your parents told you that someone you know is sick or hurt. Important news can change the way you think about something or someone.
Samuel lived in the temple of the Lord, but he had never heard God calling before. Fortunately, Eli was there to help, and Samuel learned to change the way he thought about God and to listen to the new mission God had for him.
Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.

This is regarding what you said about "Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening", how do you know that the "servant" isn't deaf? and how do you know that the "lord" isn't a mute? I mean really have a little respect for those who are communication-ally impaired. How would you feel if everyone just assumed that you had perfectly good ears and then down came god's wishes and you had no idea what she was telling you because she and everyone else who was ordering the "lord" to speak was so insensitive that they couldn't even spend a measly 500 dollars an hour to get a sign language translator. I think that that phrase should be rewritten to say:
"Communicate in some accommodating way, 'Lord', for your well paid 'attendant' might have the capability listen"
Who's with me?
